Just like any skill, with practice it can evolve into a state we can tune into at any given moment. Mindfulness derives from sati, a significant element of Hindu and Buddhist traditions, and is based on Zen, Vipassanā, and Tibetan meditation techniques. Which I personally find fascinating.
